Searching for a curry house...

This is our 3rd week, all ive been wanting is nice food, is it so hard to find a nice place to eat? well in our case, or should i say my (Jasmin) case 'Yes'

Just to re-cap our food scenario's in Holland -

First when we arrived into Holland, we was a bit hungry from the journey so we popped into Burger King for a quick munch at the airport and then caught the Train into Lelystad, just to bear in mind that was around 1.30pm, as the day went on, we went to the Province and we briefly got introduced to the Marieke, Anneke, Michele and Karin.  Anneke kindly drove us back to our Accomadation which took upto 20 minute in a car.

Later in the evening, after unpacking and settling in, we decided to go out and see whats near us to eat as we got a little hungry.  As we hit the road, it was one big long road with a cycling lane, we decided to walk and see where the road would take us.  We walked on that road for a good 10 minute, and then we had to take a left which was another long road and walked on that road for a good 15minute till we came across like a activy centre e.g gym, bowling, tennis games, but we decided we've had enough of walking and go into the bowling bar and see if they had any type of food.. We went into the bowling place, which was a sport centre as this was useless too us, so we asked the bartender wheres the nearest supermarket, he told us its another 40 mintes walk and the supermarket closes at 9pm, which was quite disappointing considering it was 8.30pm, so we decided not to go for a big long walk again and we thanked the bartender, where we introduced ourself's and they taught Ben to say 'Thank you' in Dutch, in Bens hearing it sounded like 'Don-kuy' which we found amusing as it sounded like Donkey.  So we decided this was our stop to eat our tea, where we had crisp, chocolate and couple of drinks for our tea.

Only to find out next day you say thank you in Dutch 'Dank You' and not Don-Kuy Ben lol.

We should of known from day one, food was going to be a bit of a pain.  We decided to go food shopping the next day and stock up, but the problem was we did'nt have a cooker, so we had to get microwave/oven food and we also stocked up on crisps & chocolates.  I lived of pizza's, fish fingers, bread, crisp and chocolate's, some times we'd even eat Burger King twice a day : /

Most days we ate out, there wasnt mant food places to eat, unless we went to the supermarket and got microwave/oven food, but theres so much fish fingers & pizza's i can eat for breakfast, dinner and tea. The Hot Chocolate was 'Yum- Yum Yummy' with loads of cream on top - you can't beat that : )

Ive been craving for a curry since we got here, its been well over 2 weeks ive not had a curry! Monday 29th October 2012, came into work did a full day in Province, me & Ben decided to go into Amsterdam again to look for a curry house.. As we got into Amsterdam, we eventually found a curry house called 'Gandii', we both decided this was the place to eat, as we walked in, seemed like a dodgy alley way and then finally a curry house.  I finally had a nice curry, fill myself up so much i wasnt able to walk, and at the end just like UK style i took a doggy bag home because i couldnt finish my food, over all that was the best meal for me in Holland : )

Just when we thought we'll have any easy ride home - Oh No - we got the train back to Lelystad station, but being a tourist we'd forgotten to check in on the train : / so the ticket person asked us to check in with our cards.  Ben kindly offered to check my card whilst he was checking in with his card, so he got off the train and i was sat there, all of a sudden the train started moving : / took me a while to digest the fact that Ben didnt get back on the train..  I stayed on the train, Ben got the next train and we met at Lelystad central station, where we had to wait for the bus, which arrived every hour.  We both got the bus back to Dronten, and walked for another 20 minutes back to our accomadation through the heavy rain and luckily i bought myself a brolly that day - so i was quite lucky in that sense.

We were so glad to be back, my feet were killing - but over all we asked ourself ''Was the curry worth it?' - we both would agree - Yes : )

Week 2

We visited a town in Holland called Utrecht, it was a big shopping centre with loads of food places, clothes shops and beautiful old buildings.  We caught the train into Utrecht which was a bit of a long journey, 20 minutes of walking to Dronton bus station, 25 minutes of bus journey to Zwolle Station where we met Anneke and her Two sons Ben & Urek and their girlfriends Eve & Breji, we all then took the train into Utrecht. Not forgetting to mention Ben fell asleep on the train.

Here we arrive at Utecht, to start of Ben decided to go to the 'Dame' toilet which was quite funny to watch as 'Dame' were the 'Ladies' toilet, poor Ben still half asleep lol.

Cafe's, bars and restaurants along the canal.

These are captured moments of Utrecht.

This is the Dom Tower in Utrecht, felt so tiny next to it lol.

Walking along the streets of Utrecht city on a cold day, quite a nice city.

It has nice tall buildings, with loads of shops, Utrecht has nice cannals like Amsterdam but its alot more chilled out with restaurants and cafe's next to the cannal.

Although am not too sure what this is, my guess would be the Olympic Torch lol.

This is the entrance the old
monastery.

Inside the monastery, theres a beautiful garden.

Oops theres me lol, i liked the background of the picture, it looked like inside an old castle to me, although it was captured whilst i was speaking : /

This is one of my favourite pictures, impressed by my photography : )

Waiting at our accomadation was Greeta our land lady a very stearn woman haha she tolds us everything we needed to know about the place and then we packed all our stuff away.
We decided to go and look for something to eat and do abit of shoping but all we found that was open was a sports bar haha so we went in  there, after this we called it a night, ready for tomorrow.
